ふみ (fumi)

JLPT N4

Interesting Fact

People often imagine samurai only practicing swordsmanship, but the ideal warrior was expected to master both 武 (martial arts) and 文 (learning and literature). This philosophy became known as 文武両道 (ぶんぶりょうどう)—"the way of both the pen and the sword." A respected samurai could write elegant poetry, compose letters, and study classics just as skillfully as they fought on the battlefield.

Memory Trick

Look at 文. Can you see a butterfly spreading its wings? 🦋 “You Can Spread your wings like butterfly when you can write a sentence.”
