Interesting Fact

In ancient China, educated men received a courtesy name (字, zì) when they reached adulthood, usually around age 20. Friends and scholars used this new name instead of the person's birth name as a sign of respect. Famous figures like Confucius and Zhuge Liang were often called by their 字 rather than their childhood names.
