JLPT N4
Interesting Fact
The oldest forms of 乗 showed a person standing on top of a tree. 🌳 At first, it simply meant "to get on top of something." Over time, the meaning expanded as people climbed onto horses, carts, and boats. Eventually, it came to mean riding or boarding any form of transportation. Even today, whether you board a bicycle, train, airplane, or horse, Japanese still uses the same ancient idea—getting on top.
Memory Trick
Imagine someone somehow riding a giant tree like it's a horse. 🌳😂
