JLPT N3

Interesting Fact

Here's a surprisingly deep connection. Buddhist philosophers in East Asia used 識 when discussing consciousness and perception—the mental process through which we experience and recognize the world. In Yogācāra Buddhism, consciousness was analyzed in great detail, including different ways the mind processes experience. The fascinating idea is that simply seeing something isn't the same as knowing it. Your eyes receive information, but the mind interprets it.
