Interesting Fact
In 1274 and again in 1281, enormous Mongol fleets attempted to invade Japan. According to historical records, powerful typhoons destroyed much of the invading force before it could conquer the country. The Japanese believed these storms were sent by the gods and called them Kamikaze (神風), meaning "Divine Wind." The story became one of the most famous legends in Japanese history.
