Same

おな(じ) (onaji)

JLPT N4

Interesting Fact

々 **Have you ever seen the symbol 々 in Japanese words like 時々 (tokidoki) or 人々 (hitobito)? Its official name is 同の字点 (dō no jiten), literal translation "the same character mark." Instead of writing the same kanji twice, Japanese simply writes 々, meaning "repeat the same character." It's a tiny symbol built entirely around the idea of 同—same.

Memory Trick

🪟 Imagine looking through a square window. Inside, another window has been built exactly the same. Two matching windows, one inside the other.
