服
Clothes
JLPT N4
Interesting Fact
In traditional Japan, clothing quietly communicated important information about the person wearing it. 👘 An unmarried woman often wore a "furisode", a kimono with long, flowing sleeves, while married women typically wore shorter sleeves. Family crests, colors, and seasonal patterns could also reveal a person's family, age, or the occasion they were attending.
Memory Trick
A tailor spends all night sewing a beautiful kimono—but it's not for a person. 👘🌙 It's specially made for the moon(月) to wear during the full moon festival. Moon + clothes = 服.
